Welcome to Badgers Holt

badgers playing on the lawn

Badgers Holt is a new bungalow (June 2014), built on the site of the old milking parlour at Buller Farm which is in the peace and quiet of rural West Cornwall. It’s a place to take time out and listen to the birds. The badgers of Badgers Holt can been seen most nights foraging outside of the front window. All of our guests so far have been enthralled by them.

We, Anne and Graham, bought Buller Farm in 2004 and have spent years turning the derelict land and farm house into the home we love. Many friends and visitors have described it as ‘A Peace of Heaven’ and all remark on how quiet it is. On Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings there is often a clay pigeon shoot for 2 hours about half a mile away but it is part of the countryside and doesn’t last long. There is a large badger sett on our land and the badgers can sometimes be seen at night foraging at the front of the house. In June our bottom field is full of wild orchids and violets, bluebells and primroses grow everywhere.

The farm is run as an equine yard and there will be the opportunity to see the horses, ducks, chickens and geese when accompanied by the owners. The drive leads straight out onto bridleways and cycle tracks which traverse West Cornwall so that you can walk or ride for many miles without having to travel along roads. Here you can discover the ruins of mining engine houses from Cornwall’s heritage as the tin mining capital of the word.
